Launch

Welcome to the StrixWerks site launch! Or rather, relaunch. I’ve scrapped the old site and am re-purposing it for my academic and professional works.

In case you don’t know me, I’m Strix. I’m a full time Ph.D. student, writer, ocean sport enthusiast, and nerd extraordinaire. I travel the world and give lectures on mythology. I write a lot of nonsense about myth in the modern world. Also, I have a weird obsession with owls. I like storytelling, and will do that in any way that I can. Currently that means that I work in Hollywood. I do consulting on a variety of things related to myth, storytelling, world building, archetypal patterns, alien linguistics, whatever. I am also a serious gamer, and am deeply entrenched in the world of pen and paper RPGs and LARP. Also MMOs. Also interactive theatre. And transmedia. I think you get the gist.

It’s a brave new world out there right now, and I’m excited to be in the field that I’m in. I guess technically you could call me a mythologist. If you’re looking at the screen funny and asking yourself what that is, join the club. I’m still figuring that out myself. What I do know is that there is something important going on. Myth and storytelling lie at the core of the human experience. Doing it right is extraordinarily rewarding. Doing it wrong, well, that’s when you’ll want to call and get people like me to consult on your script.

I will be keeping the blog portion of this site updated with all my events and projects, and sometimes even witty banter. Please consider subscribing to the RSS feed (I even made you a pretty button to click at the top right there, do you see it?), and feel free to e-mail me, follow me on twitter, facebook, and all that jazz.

Sincerely excited to have you visit,
-Strix
